SMS FINANCE previously STONE McNAMARA FINANCE originally STONE GODDARD & ASSOCIATES.

The company director is John McNamara. A brief history of directors and the business is listed below.

John McNamara has over 20 years experience in the finance industry. He commenced his career with the Commonwealth Bank and the Bank’s finance company CBFC Limited, in June 1981. During his time with the Commonwealth Bank he had several postings and worked in every area of CBFC Limited and in particular held the following positions:

· Manager Broker Finance

· Manager CBFC Fleet Lease & Manager CBFC Floor Plan Section.

In September 1994 John moved to the Sunshine Coast to take up the position of Area Manager for CBFC Limited where he was required to source new equipment finance business. In October 2000, after 7 years with CBFC Limited on the Sunshine Coast, John moved to the Commonwealth Bank Business Banking Centre in Maroochydore as a Relationship Executive to manage larger portfolio clients.

John resigned in August, 2001 to take the opportunity of purchasing a 50% share of Stone Goddard & Associates, and thus forming Stone McNamara Finance which was subsequently changed to SMS Finance.

John is active in a number of community activities on the Sunshine Coast, in particular John is a Long Service Member of the Alexandra Headland SLSC, and presently he actively competes in surf boat competition with Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Club.

David Stone has over 30 years experience in the finance industry, he commenced his career in finance, with Lombard Australia Limited in 1966 (now Natwest Bank) and during this time gained experience in most divisions of the industry. The last position of Branch Manager, Maroochydore, was held for eight (8) years.

David left to establish Stone Goddard & Associates in January, 1982. The business has operated from the same premises since that date. In June 2008 David handed over the reigns of SMS FINANCE solely to John McNamara selling John his share in the business to slow down a bit into a semi-retired / consultancy role in the business.

David is active in a number of community activities on the Sunshine Coast. David is also a Life Member and past president of Maroochydore SLSC, and holds a position on the Finance Committee.

SMS FINANCE

SMS Finance holds accreditation with most major financiers and in recent times the majority of our business has been accepted by CBFC Limited / Commonwealth Bank, Westpac Banking Corporation, Esanda Finance Corporation / ANZ Bank, National Australia Bank, Capital Finance and the Bank of Queensland.

Since 1982 business has also been accepted by most large lending institutions.

Over the past 20 years, our sphere of operation has penetrated as far as the Western Darling Downs, South Burnett and the Central Highlands. Accordingly a large percentage of our business involves trucks, trailers, earthmoving equipment, mining machinery, sawmill plant and farm machinery.

On the Sunshine Coast we negotiate all types of finance for basically any worthwhile purpose. Equipment finance agreements include Lease, Bill of Sale, Chattel Mortgage, Hire Purchase and Rental Contracts with goods including office equipment, vehicles, plant and equipment, computers, trucks, earthmoving equipment, farm machinery and fishing vessels.

With the introduction of John McNamara the business progressed into the mortgage lending market providing Home Loans and Business Loans, at competitive rates. We charge no fee for this service as we are paid direct by the lending institution.

SMS Finance takes pride in the presentation of all applications, regardless of size, and enjoys repeat business from a loyal clientele which now represents approximately 80% of business written. All customer files are maintained in a modern computer system and confidentiality is assured.
